Getting it ready

So while you are placing the glass door down, make sure you keep it on a cloth or a rag so that the area remains clean. Different ways of cleaning

Vinegar

Vinegar is one of the cheapest cleaners which can help you to clean the glass door. All you need is vinegar, water, and cloth to clean the fireplace glass. Vinegar cuts through the soot residue, grime, and grease with quite an ease. It is the perfect choice for cleaning the glass door as it doesn’t cause any damage to it. You can choose to use vinegar by itself or mix it up with some water. To make the solution more effective, you can also add a tablespoon of cornstarch or ammonia to one-quarter cup of vinegar. Allow the solution to settle for about half a minute, and then spray the mixture on the surface of the glass door.

Razor Blade

Razorblade can be used to clean very thick layers of soot. With the help of the blade, you can peel the residue. Be sure that you are gentle as you can scratch the glass. If there is a very thick layer, you can remove the topmost layer using this method and then use another method to clean the remaining residue. This will help to avoid damaging the glass.

Commercial Cleaners

Commercial cleaners are available in the market that has been specially designed to clean glass doors. All you would need is a cleaner solution, water, and a sponge or cloth. If you don’t want to buy the glass door cleaner, you can also use an oven cleaner. The cleaners which contain plant-based ingredients are a perfect choice. Before you spray the cleaner onto the glass, make sure that it is cool. Then, spray the cleaner and let it sit for a while on the surface of the glass. After that, wipe it down with a damp cloth. It is recommended that you use a microfiber cloth.
